If you haven’t already signed up for HauteLook, you should get on that! Today there is an amazing sale on Donni Charm, which produces scarves and clothing. Donni Charm was started by a fellow high school classmate of mine, who started making the chamrs in honor of her father that passed away. If you sign up with my link, i will get credit when you make your first purchase!
hello from my bed! i am once again under the weather :(, but am enjoying my weekend in town. i’ve found it hard to blog consistently, but i still want to keep this baby going! i thought i would update you on what i’ve been up to the past few weeks:
i’ve started my spring visits for work and have been to little rock, ar and winston-salem, nc so far. i got sick on my last trip and am trying to recover before i leave for my next trip to augusta, ga.
had a great valentine’s day. got beautiful flowers from my boo and had a rockin’ valentine’s par-tay at my friend molly and alex’s house.
we had interviews for incoming employees for work and took the candidates out to karaoke! below is a wonderful picture of all of the first years belting out “livin’ la vida loca”
i took a 6-week calligraphy class at the local college and loved it! i hope to get good enough to actually do events one day.
i wrote another article for the jackson free press. read it here!
i was also very excited to get my picture and bio as a contributing writer:
i registered for the gre. yikes! i gotta get studying!
i’m thinking about what i want to do for my birthday on the 22nd. i can’t believe i’m going to be 24! and i can’t believe it’s march already. happy spring!
i think that’s about it. what have you all been up to lately?
hello hello! sorry i have been mia lately! my last day of the 30 for 30 challenge was last thursday. i was supposed to leave on a trip to little rock for work on friday, but icy and snowy weather in the south stopped me from traveling. luckily i made it there on saturday and came back on sunday. it’s been a good week so far, and is going to get even better because my boyfriend is coming to visit. yipee!
i truly can’t believe that the challenge is over. it has felt very strange having so much freedom to shop my closet. i learned a lot about my personal style and how to be more creative with my clothes. i also learned things that i will do differently the next time i remix (i.e. more diverse clothing choices, etc.). thank you so much to everyone who has followed me during the remix! i am definitely hoping to do another 30 for 30 remix challenge later in the spring or in early summer.
i really want to keep blogging, but i’m not sure what to blog about.
i really liked what i wore on monday, so i took a picture and will post that below. maybe i’ll continue posting outfits. what do you guys think? let me know!
molly, my fellow 30-for-30er finished on the same day as me. it was so fun to do the challenge with someone else! she is the best. check out her awesome blog if you haven’t already.
here are some more funny, celebratory pics:
love this pic.
we finally got it!
outfit of the day - 2.7.11
something that i wish that i’d done during 30 for 30 is write where each piece of clothing is from. i’ll start doing that from now on!
blazer: thrifted on etsy
shoes: ann taylor
thanks for reading! i would love to hear what you think i should blog about next. xoxo!
this week has been a crazy one. it started out great on sunday night with best of jackson. it was such a fun event. tons of free food and drinks and an amazing dance party! the week got a little crazy on monday morning when i cut myself pretty badly on a tuna can (cringe). i didn’t realize how squeamish i was until i was in a situation like that. luckily, my amazing roommate traci was home and came to my rescue. i’m worried that i won’t be able to survive any major medical event because i could hardly handle a deep cut on my thumb. oh well. i eventually went to the doctor and they glued my finger shut and gave me a tetanus shot (frowny face). today my finger and arm both feel much better.
tomorrow is my last day of the 30 for 30 remix. i truly can’t believe it! i have learned a lot and could not be more excited to shop my closet. kendi just started another 30 for 30 this month. i’m bummed that i didn’t wait to do it with her, but if you would like to see how it’s done like a pro, head on over to her site.
and without further ado, here are my outfits:
best of jackson!
right after the injury. yuck.
the kit traci made for me.
rachel and i looooooooooove cats. this is her toy cat tina.
this was me today. i can’t believe my last day is tomorrow!
hello! i’ve had quite a weekend, and it’s not even over yet! i can’t believe that thursday will be the end of my 30 for 30 remix! i’ve had a great time, but i’d be lying if i said i wasn’t excited to dive into my closet on friday and wear something “new.”
here’s what i’ve been doing for the past few of days…
these were taken on thursday. i thought the kitchen would be an appropriate place for a photo shoot because i was on kitchen duty last week!
the weather started looking up on friday and turned into full-fledged spring weather on saturday!
my roommate traci decided that we should enjoy the AMAZING weather on saturday by going to the reservoir and having a picnic for a few hours. here are some pics!
it was nice to wear a dress without tights! i actually got a little color (hard to tell here haha).
traci and michelle.
love this pic. soaking up the sun!
that evening, a group of us went to the crawdad hole for dinner. i had to eat something before because i don’t eat shellfish, but i still was able to eat some delicious corn on the cob and boiled peanuts! here are a few pictures from dinner:
claire, michelle and molly!
traci and me playing with my fun, new app that i downloaded at dinner. i’m going to have wayyy too much fun with it.
tonight and i am headed to Best of Jackson put on by the jackson free press. as some of you know, i freelance for the jfp and am excited to get to attend their biggest event of the year. can’t wait to eat great food and drink from the winners of this years awards. can’t think of a better way to end the weekend. hope yours has been great!
boy am i sleepy. i had a busy day at work, went to a workout class during lunch and then had my first calligraphy class that i am taking at millsaps college. it was super fun and i’m so glad i decided to take it! i’ll post some pictures of my work soon. here’s what i wore today:
So, I didn’t take a picture on this day until i had already changed into a fantastic romper in preparation for the Jackson Roller Disco. Before changing into my disco outfit, I wore my white button down shirt, jeans and leather moccasins.
(excuse my messy room!)
me and claire
10 more to go! i am getting a little antsy, but am trying to keep the remixing excitement up.
today was a good day. i was very productive at work, i wore some 30 for 30 items for the first time during the remix and i was able to go back to bootcamp.
i started bootcamp 3 weeks ago because there was an AMAZING groupon for it a couple of months ago. the groupon is only for 4 weeks and i’m sad that i missed 3 days this week because i was sick, but i’m going to try to finish strong next week. i’ve had a great time and learned so much already. but enough about bootcamp, onto outfit #17!
hey hey. i feel a million times better today, but still not 100%. hopefully when i wake up tomorrow i’ll feel like my old self.
i am really loving blogging, even though i feel like i’m only getting my feet wet. i have been a loyal blog stalker for a few years now, so blogging myself is still taking some getting used to. i want to thank everyone again for visiting and reading!
molly chopped off her hair! isn’t is adorable slash an awesome power/fashion bob? i love it. i am planning on growing my bangs and the rest of my hair out, but i am so impatient! we’ll see if i can actually make it happen.
hello! i’m alive, but barely. i returned a little later than planned from my trip to texas to visit my cousins. i had a great weekend catching up with my cousins and playing with their adorable twin babies.
but then, on sunday night, i came down with a horrible stomach virus. and i mean horrible. i pushed back my flight and stayed in houston to recover. luckily my cousin is a gastroenterologist - i could not have been in better hands! needless to say, i am a bit behind in my outfits, but will resume tomorrow! below are the outfits i wore on my trip before i got sick:
at the office on friday, excited to start my trip!
me and my cousin keith! the last time i came to visit i was 12…it had been way too long! excuse the blurriness, i took these on my iphone.
posing with cousin alex. i was also wearing my jeans and my brown boots this day.
here are a couple more pictures of the twins:
and her cute twin brother andrew. thanks for reading!
so, i have a confession. i didn’t really follow the 30 for 30 rules today. mississippi is experiencing “severe winter weather,” which for the south means some ice and freezing rain. being from utah/colorado, you can probably picture my eye roll, but i do realize that driving with people not used to such weather is in fact dangerous.
i left the house today to see "Country Strong" which stars two of my biggest celeb crushes, leighton meester and garret hudland. its wasn’t spectacular, but i enjoyed the music a lot. before i left i threw on a hoodie and some uggs and didn’t realize that i had broken the rules until i the left the house. whoops. this just means that i’ll add an extra outfit and finish on the 31st instead of the 30th.
okay, okay, enough of my rambling. check out outfit #8 below.
i know, i know, i’m being kind of a slacker about posting, but i am trying! so far i am really loving the 30 for 30, and it has really saved me when i have woken up late/needed to put an outfit together in a hurry. here are my past three outfits!
molly, my fellow 30-for-30-er in the office, and i love taking action shots at work.
that’s molly. we crack ourselves up!!
there you have it! i promise i will be better at posting. i hope you all are having a lovely weekend!
why yes, i did oversleep for the second day in a row! hopefully tomorrow i’ll be back on schedule and have a normal amount of time to get ready. so far, the 30 for 30 challenge has been fun and i feel better after taking kendi's advice of sketching out as many outfits as possible ahead of time.
i’m really enjoying this blogging thing so far. thanks for reading!
also, big thanks to my friend and fellow 30-for-30-er molly for being such a great photographer!
happy 2011! today is the first day of my 30 for 30 Remix challenge! the challenge is to select 30 items from your closet and only wear those 30 items for the next 30 days! Below are the 30 pieces of clothing that I will be working with:
2 pairs of pants
6 pairs of shoes
posing for pics is a little awk, but i’m sure i’ll get used to it as time goes on! i’m hoping to post my new years resolutions here in the next few days, but until then i am loving reading my favorite bloggers’ resolutions. check out Kendi Everyday’s (the inventor of the 30 for 30 remix) wonderful resolution here.
I’ve been reading a lot of cool tumblrs and it’s time for me to get my act together and get this rolling again.
I read so many amazing fashion/design/inspiration blogs on a regular basis and want to share all of the beautiful things that I find. And maybe talk about myself a little bit, even though the idea of blogging about my life has always seemed silly/narcissistic. Oh well, here goes nothing!
I still am pretty bad at blogging consistently, but am trying harder! Last week I decided to put my tumblr app on my phone to good use and typed up a post I was really happy with. To my dismay, only my first two paragraphs appeared, which was pretty discouraging. oh well.
I am chilling here at work, listening to Feist radio on Pandora and looking at all of my favorite fashion and inspiration blogs patiently waiting for my 3-day weekend to begin. Josh is coming in tonight and we are planning on going on a fancy date when I get home. We don’t really have set plans for the weekend, but here is a list of the things I want to do:
If the weather is nice, go to the beach
Have a 4th o’ July BBQ
Bake an apple pie with Josh (to get in the holiday spirit)
Go on another beautiful bike ride (maybe pack a picnic)
Go to the movies (my favorite thing to do in the world) and enjoy a big bucket of popcorn
I’m sure whatever we do the weekend will be great. Just 5.5 hours to go!
Workplace Copy Editor’s Revenge Takes Form Of Unhyphenated Word
February 27, 2006 | Issue 42•09
BOSTON—Bruce Huntoon, a copy editor at Pilot magazine, intentionally did not correct the copy of columnist Justin Mann Monday. “I am tired of that insufferable asshole’s mean-spirited jokes,” Huntoon said. “So, when he described the carburetor warmer as a ‘twentieth century’ invention, I decided to leave the copy untouched and let him deal with the consequences of his actions. The fucker.” Huntoon said the unhyphenated compound modifier is the most extreme step he has ever taken, adding that he drafted a resignation notice that he will hand in should his superiors notice the omission.
So, it’s been quite a while since I’ve updated this little diddy. Being a commuting city girl has been extremely exhausting, but I am still having a good time. It pretty much feels like I never left S&P. The Mizzou crowd this year is really great and I love that for two summers in a row I’ve been able to make friends from school in NYC and spend a good part of my day laughing.
I’m still trying to figure out how to make the most of my commuting time because I am usually too tired to do much of anything productive. My commute is about 4 hours total each day and consists of car rides with Josh’s dad, riding the PATH in and out of the city and taking a train all of the way to Josh’s cute neighborhood at the end of the day. I usually end up listening to music or playing with my phone, but I would like to start reading, journaling and studying for the GRE (yikes!).
Last weekend Josh came home and we had a wonderful time and rested a lot. My weekend basically consisted of eating a lot of Japanese food, sleeping in and seeing The Hangover, which turned out to be hilarious. This week I was able to stay in the city after work and hang out with the S&P crew; on Tuesday we saw Pelham 1,2,3 (not as fabulous/offensive as the original, unfortunately) and last night we went uptown for Rae’s 22nd birthday din at a cute italian restaurant near Times Square.
Tomorrow after work I am heading off to Philly to visit Josh because he is having a concert and partay at his house on Saturday night. Last night he was injured while playing hockey (he’s okay now) but that makes me want to see him even sooner.
I’ll try and update more and I hope everyone has a great weekend!
I am now officially moved into my summer residence with Josh’s family in New Jersey. I get to sleep in a big new bed! hurrah!
The house is tucked into the forest and is beautiful and relaxing. I start work at S&P on Monday and am excited to go back and see everyone and start another adventure. Word on the street is that we will have to share our cubicles, but there is also a new crew of Mizzou peeps and I’m excited to meet them all.
I have goofed around with Josh and his little brother all day. The highlights were going to the soccer fields (I read Jessica Valenti’s newest book The Purity Myth and they played) and riding bikes to the grocery store and then having a BBQ on the deck.
I am exhausted and happy and still need to unpack.
